The 'Poem A Day' Project - Day 46
I changed my hair I changed my style
I changed my look I changed my smile
I changed my hat to suit the fad
I changed the clothing that I had
I changed my diet and my routine
I changed into a fitness machine
I changed my lifestyle I changed my physic
I changed from welcoming to quiet and meek
I changed my character and changed my friends
I changed the way the story ends
I changed the goals and sights I’d see
I changed everything that made me me
I changed my mind I changed direction
I changed how I viewed my reflection
I changed right back to how I began
Exactly the same but a completely changed man
I changed my look I changed my smile
I changed my hat to suit the fad
I changed the clothing that I had
I changed my diet and my routine
I changed into a fitness machine
I changed my lifestyle I changed my physic
I changed from welcoming to quiet and meek
I changed my character and changed my friends
I changed the way the story ends
I changed the goals and sights I’d see
I changed everything that made me me
I changed my mind I changed direction
I changed how I viewed my reflection
I changed right back to how I began
Exactly the same but a completely changed man
Flying Lemming
This poem by Fyling Lemming shows a side of change that is voluntary. Its not clear whether the speaker is changing for the right reasons or not though. The speaker could be changing to make themselves feel better and have a better life for themselves or the speaker could be changing for the wrong reason which would be to become more popular not caring what they have to change to fit in. The last line says "Exactly the same but a completely changed man" I think this means that even though the character changes they are still the same person on the inside but they have changed themselves on the outside so much that the speaker is completely different. What ever the reason is that the speaker changed, he did it himself. He changed himself for himself even though it took away everything he knew that set him out from others.

Changes
A change in time, a change in place
A change of jobs, a change of pace
change your style or change your friends
change your path and change the end
Chance for a 20, change for a 10
Change for the bus, 'Change please, friend'
A change of homes, a change of kin
A change of friends you never win
a change of schools, begin again
A change of age, a change of space
A change of morals, A change of rules
A change of sails, blowing you into the unknown
A change of jobs, a change of pace
change your style or change your friends
change your path and change the end
Chance for a 20, change for a 10
Change for the bus, 'Change please, friend'
A change of homes, a change of kin
A change of friends you never win
a change of schools, begin again
A change of age, a change of space
A change of morals, A change of rules
A change of sails, blowing you into the unknown
Ethan Allen
Changes by Ethan Allen shows that even the smallest change can change your life forever. The last line says "A change of sails, blowing you into the unknown". I really like this line because it shows that every choice you make has a consequence but you wont know until it has happens, you just make a choice then wait to see what happens next. The first part of the poem goes "A change in time, a change in place. A change of jobs, a change of pace. Change your style or change your friends change your path and change the end." I think this further more says that not matter what you do the outcome of your life will change even if its just the slightest.
LOOKING AWAY
TURNING MY CHEEK
CHANGING MY VIEW
CHANGING THE WAY I LOOK & FEEL WHEN I STARE AT YOU
FORGIVING THE LIARS
THANKING MY PROVIDER
CHANGING THE WAY I DESTROY LOVE WITH MY WICKED DESIRE
CHANGING THE WAY I HOPE
CHANGING EACH DREAM
CHANGING MY DEFINITION TO UNDERSTAND THE MEAN
CHANGING MY EDUCATION
CHANGING THE SEPARATION
CHANGING THE SHAME LIFE IS A CELEBRATION
CHANGING MY VIEW
CHANGING THE WAY I LOOK & FEEL WHEN I STARE AT YOU
FORGIVING THE LIARS
THANKING MY PROVIDER
CHANGING THE WAY I DESTROY LOVE WITH MY WICKED DESIRE
CHANGING THE WAY I HOPE

CHANGING MY DEFINITION TO UNDERSTAND THE MEAN
CHANGING MY EDUCATION
CHANGING THE SEPARATION
CHANGING THE SHAME LIFE IS A CELEBRATION
Courtney Steele
This poem by Courtney Steele shows that sometimes you have to change to move on. The last line says "Changing the shame life is a celebration" I think this means that to realize things such as life as a celebration you have to change the way you think first. Changing the way you look at things will help you to see things differently. A new and maybe even better way. You have to forgive the things in life that have caused you harm and move on and start a new chapter in your life.
